Astranis Partners with Orbith on MicroGEO Satellite in Argentina

< 1 Minute Read

Astranis, a company that builds and operates satellites, is partnering with Orbith, an internet service provider in Latin America, to launch a satellite designed to improve communication services in Argentina.

This satellite, called a MicroGEO communications satellite, is scheduled to launch in 2025.

Astranis will manufacture and launch the satellite.ย They are known for their MicroGEO satellites, which are smaller and cheaper than traditional geostationary satellites.

Once launched, Orbith will be responsible for using the satellite to provide internet access and other communication services to customers in Argentina.

By providing more satellite capacity, this project should help to improve internet speeds and reliability in Argentina.

Pablo Mosiul, Orbith CEO, talks about the challenges of availability that prevented the company from expanding its footprint in countries like Argentina.

โ€œThis dedicated MicroGEO communications satellite from Astranis will be a massive accelerator for our plans in Argentina,โ€ Mosiul said. โ€œHaving a satellite specifically tailored to our needs, and to the demand that we see from our customers in the country, is a massive competitive advantage that will help us expand our coverage across the country.โ€

This is a significant development for both Astranis and Orbith. For Astranis, it represents another sale of their MicroGEO satellite technology. For Orbith, it represents an opportunity to expand its service offerings and reach new customers in Argentina.
