ESRI recently announced that ArcSDE now supports Microsoft SQL Server 2005 with the release of the ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 1 to enable users to take advantage of Microsoft’s newest technology. ArcSDE is a server software product that accesses multiuser geographic databases stored in relational database management systems (RDBMSs). ArcSDE enables users to integrate geographic information query, mapping, spatial analysis, and editing within a multiuser enterprise DBMS, move from a distributed approach to an integrated environment, manage spatial data as a continuous database accessible to the entire organization and easily publish maps on the web. ArcSDE 9.1 Service Pack 1 also includes performance improvements and maintenance fixes.
