Brazil: Brazil is planning to develop an ‘obesity map’ of students in Sao Paulo. More than 1,600 students will participate in this activity.
The State Department of Education in partnership with the Brazilian Society of Cardiology has taken this initiative. Students will be asked questions about their dietary habits and physical activities. Teachers will measure their height and weight. The information will be collected throughout the month of September. It will then be transformed into a map to understand the relationship between obesity and lifestyles in different regions of the state. Students will be advised to improve their eating habits and lifestyles. Six months later, a new evaluation will be done to see if the activity proved helpful.
