Advantech and RAD Announce Partnership with Actility for Global IoT Deployement

2 Minutes Read

Advantech (2395 TW) and RAD, two of the global leaders in Industrial IoT technology, have partnered up with global LoRaWANยฎ Network Server solutions provider Actility.

Advantech has partnered to simplify IoT solutions deployment on LoRaWANยฎ networks, in order to meet the needs of the industrial automation market in North and South America, Europe, and Asia. As a start, the partners announced the launch of the new Advantechโ€™s WISE-2410 LoRaWANยฎ smart vibration sensor with full integration into Actilityโ€™s ThingPark Enterprise IoT platform.

The sensor monitors the surface temperatures of machines and autonomously calculates their vibration values and characteristics for predictive maintenance applications.

WISE-2410 can transform original vibration data into spectral information via further transformation functions to calculate vibration values. It features high penetration wireless transmission technology using LoRaWAN technology, so operators can quickly and widely install data retrieving nodes like WISE-2410 to collect and transfer data to a control center. Whatโ€™s more, by cross-comparison of RMS speeds and eigenvalues against ISO 10816-3 standards, end users can accurately estimate the operational status of any motor-powered mechanical equipment such as pumps, air compressors, and fans.

RAD, has announced a strategic partnership with Actility in order to facilitate deployment of IoT use cases for power, gas and water utilities, smart cities, transportation systems and many other verticals. The Partners agreed on technical and business cooperation and mutual promotion of the integrated RAD SecFlow Secure IIoT Gateway with LoRaWAN and Edge Computing and Actilityโ€™s ThingPark IoT platform.

IoT gateways use LoRaWANยฎ to connect smart devices to the cloud for data processing and management. With the trend toward edge computing for lower latency and higher availability, there is a rising demand for IIoT gateways that support more than secure networking functionality. Such is RADโ€™s SecFlowโ€™s unique offering, which includes onboard server functionality capable of hosting third-party containers.

A true โ€œSwiss Army Knifeโ€, the SecFlow combines functionalities that would typically require separate dedicated appliances in a single box. This is a much-appreciated feature among IoT project managers as it simplifies deployment and operations by reducing the number of devices and contributes to increased security.
