Overview

The Geospatial World Forum 2026 will feature a 90-minute technology program on Data Science, highlighting its transformative impact across industries like AEC (Architecture, Engineering, and Construction), Geospatial Knowledge Infrastructure, Utilities & Network, Defence & Intelligence, Capacity Development, Space2Earth, Climate Resilience and Disaster Management, Hydrospatial Infrastructure and Blue Economy, Agriculture, Land & Property.

Data Science is revolutionizing the geospatial and space sectors by transforming vast datasets into actionable intelligence. Through advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI, it enhances spatial understanding, predictive modeling, and data-driven decision-making. In geospatial applications, it supports dynamic mapping, environmental monitoring, and infrastructure management, while in the space domain, it drives satellite data processing, orbital analytics, and planetary exploration. Its impact spans sectors such as urban planning, agriculture, transportation, defense, energy, and climate resilience enabling smarter planning, sustainability, and operational efficiency. However, challenges remain in ensuring data quality, interoperability, ethical AI use, and data privacy.

The convergence of data science with geospatial technologies, cloud computing, and edge analytics presents immense opportunities for real-time insights and innovation. At GWF 2026, this track will explore how data science is transforming spatial intelligence — driving precision, sustainability, and resilience in an increasingly data-driven world.
