Survey of India, The National Survey and Mapping Organization of the country under the Department of Science & Technology, is the OLDEST SCIENTIFIC DEPARTMENT OF THE GOVT. OF INDIA. It was set up in 1767 and has evolved into rich traditions over the years. In its assigned role as the nation's Principal Mapping Agency, Survey of India bears a special responsibility to ensure that the country's domain is explored and mapped suitably, provide base maps for expeditious and integrated development and ensure that all resources contribute with their full measure to the progress, prosperity and security of our country now and for generations to come.

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj is a branch of the Government of India looking after the ongoing process of decentralisation and local governance in the States. In a federation the powers and functions of the government are divided among two governments. In India it is the Union Government and the various State Governments. However, with the passage of 73rd and 74th amendment act of the Constitution of India, in 1993 the division of powers and functions have been further trickled down to Local Self Governments (Panchayat at Village levels and Municipalities and Municipal Corporations in towns and large cities). As such India now has not two but three tier of Governments in its federal setup. Ministry of Panchayati Raj looks into all matters relating to the Panchayati Raj and Panchayati Raj Institutions. It was created in May 2004. The ministry is headed by a minister of cabinet rank. The ministry is now headed by Shri Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh.
Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC), Citizen Resources Information Department, Govt. of Haryana is located in the campus of CCS HAU, Hisar is a nodal agency for Haryana State for remote sensing, GIS and GPS related activities. Since, its inception in 1986, HARSAC is doing commendable work for state government in the fields of remote sensing, GIS, GPS and capacity building. HARSAC has completed more than 250 projects for state and centre governments. HARSAC is running Two Years M.Tech. (Geoinformatics) course since 2009 and produced trained men-power. HARSAC has established District GIS Labs in all the 22 districts of the state besides a Node Office in Gurugram. HARSAC has state of the art facilities covering computer systems, workstations, image processing, GIS softwares, survey instruments and trained men-power.

National Mission for Clean Ganga(NMCG) was registered as a society, It acted as implementation arm of National Ganga River Basin Authority(NGRBA) which was constituted under the provisions of the Environment (Protection) Act (EPA),1986. The aims and objectives of NMCG is to accomplish the mandate of National Ganga River Basin Authority (NGRBA) of : To ensure effective abatement of pollution and rejuvenation of the river Ganga by adopting a river basin approach to promote inter-sectoral co-ordination for comprehensive planning and management and to maintain minimum ecological flows in the river Ganga with the aim of ensuring water quality and environmentally sustainable development.

The Soil & Land Use Survey of India (SLUSI), formerly the All India Soil & Land Use Survey (AISLUS), was established in 1958 as a part of the Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. National-level soil surveys began in 1953, guided by U.S. soil specialist Dr. F. F. Rickens. In 1955, the All India Soil Survey Scheme was initiated under the Indian Agricultural Research Institute. In 1958, the scheme expanded to include land use surveys for detailed soil assessments in RVP catchment areas. SLUSI conducts soil surveys, generating scientific data for land and water conservation planning across its seven regional centers.
