K. Sreenivas did his post-graduation in Agriculture with specialization in soil science and joined NRSA in the year 1989. He was awarded Ph.D. in Remote Sensing during the year 2002. During his 34 years of career, carried out several projects related to application of geospatial technology in agriculture, land use land cover and land degradation. He has a wide experience on employing digital and visual techniques in monitoring natural resources.

Developed digital classification techniques using multi-channel, multi-temporal and multi-sensor data sets by exploring new statistical and machine learning algorithms. He got a wide experience in employing satellite and aerial data from optical, SAR, LIDAR and thermal sensors for natural resources studies. Some of his important contributions include developing national spatial database of salt-affected soils, land degradation, soil resources, land cover monitoring, soil carbon stocks of India. He served as a member of national committees on land records modernization, soil health card, land degradation, national capital accounting, ICR-ER, Technical Advisory Group on SDGs National Indicator Framework (NIF).

Presently, he is working as Deputy Director for Remote Sensing Applications at National Remote Sensing Centre, Hyderabad and also serving as chairman of ISRS- Hyderabad chapter.
