WHERE'S THE MONEY? DISRUPTIVE BUSINESS MODELS
IN GEOSPATIAL INDUSTRY
A ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION & RECEPTION
HOSTED BY

Since the past few years, geospatial industry has seen major shift in its business models largely due to global demand of cloud-based and open-interoperable solutions. The advent of information technology and connectivity not only makes the world smaller, but creates stiff competition among industry players, especially in terms of exclusivity and quality of services. These fast-changing technology trends are cutting down gestation period and innovation life-span, resulting in profit vulnerability.
Along the way we witnessed standalone products losing value and businesses slowly shifting focus to products + services + solutions + system integration portfolio. Ground-breaking acquisitions and consolidations have been making headlines as a way for businesses to integrate systems and gain competitive advantage. We have also seen some unexpected strategic alliances between two and more companies as a marketing strategy to strengthen products positioning in the market – 'together' can create better solution for the users.
Business of geospatial content and information are now taking center stage making location intelligence ever more fundamental. Authentic content and information are used to drive business strategies in order to deliver better and smarter solutions to the users.
Geospatial industry has been evolving and will continue to evolve dynamically; business models will continue being disrupted. The only way for businesses to stay on top of the game is to keep asking one important question: where is the money?
Geospatial Media and Communications, as part of its endeavor to analyze global geospatial business trends and directions, is hosting a roundtable discussion on 'Where's the Money? Disruptive Business Models in Geospatial Industry' to understand geospatial business directions and opportunities in Europe, while facilitating business development and networking of industry players.
