ADVANCING BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN EUROPE
ONE OF ITS KIND PLATFORM GATHERING EUROPEAN BUSINESS
LEADERS AND STAKEHOLDERS

Rotterdam, The Netherlands
Background
The latest developments in technology infrastructure, market sustainability requirement and commoditization of geospatial information have broken all exclusivities in the market causing a lot of disruption to the existing business models of geospatial companies.
A disruptive business model termed as 'sharing economy' has become increasingly popular in the past few years, thanks to Uber and Airbnb. Similar trend is affecting the geospatial industry, where geospatial data, hardware and software are becoming more and more available as 'services' shared in a common IT platform through integration of cloud, web, IoT, enterprise and data warehouse. This business model allows users to pay as per consumption, and therefore avoid expensive licensing and maintenance fee.
Solution-centric and value-driven demand of end users, on the other hand, are driving companies to offer holistic workflow of solutions instead of traditional mode of hardware or software.
Today, primary hardware companies have 40-50% software business. This is happening because solution has become the end of the value chain and a company cannot give a solution with just hardware or software alone. Significant number of players with a futuristic mindset have already started moving towards system integration with strategic alliances.
European Geospatial Business Summit shall be a unique and first of its kind platform to demonstrate the evolving geospatial business models and offers European geospatial professionals and companies the opportunity to learn, collaborate, and optimise their business dimensions.
As part of our campaign towards developing this platform, Geospatial Media and Communications shall be undertaking round-table discussions in about 10 cities across Europe and shall organise all the discussions/interactions in the form of a report, which shall be available for discussions at the 1st European Geospatial Business Summit.
