The on-going Russia Ukraine war crisis has generated severe economic criticism and resistance from the United States and its allies.
Russia seems quit unhappy with western sanctions over Ukraine, which is why they have decided to discontinue supplying rocket engines to the United States in retaliation of it, confirms Dmitry Rogozin, Head of the state Space Agency Roscosmos, as reported by Reuters.
“In a situation like this we can’t supply the United States with our world’s best rocket engines. Let them fly on something else, their broomsticks, I don’t know what,” Rogozin was quoted as saying on state Russian television.
In addition to that he said that Roscosmos will stop servicing rocket engines which it had already delivered to the US, which means the US still has 24 engines that would now be left without Russian technical assistance.
According to Rogozin, since 1990s, Russia has delivered a total of 122 RD-180 engines to the US, out of which 98 have been used to power Atlas launch vehicles.
Earlier Russia has said that it was suspending cooperation with Europe on space launches from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana.
In retaliation countries plan to ban Russian products
Globally, around 8 percent of total oil supply comes from Russian exports and this war has only triggered the disruptions to supply which is why the oil prices have surged.
In another report it suggests that the US President Joe Biden held a video conference call with the leaders of France, Germany and the United Kingdom, to seek their support for a ban on Russian oil imports.
Apart from that an official from the White House was quoted as saying that the White House is also negotiating with US congressional leaders who are working on fast-tracking legislation that would ban Russian imports, a move that is forcing the administration to work on an expedited timeline.
However, Germany, which is the biggest buyer of Russian crude oil has rejected the plan to put a ban energy imports from Russia, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was quoted as saying. He further added that Germany is accelerating its plans to expand its use of alternative energy sources but cannot halt imports of Russian energy overnight.
In case of Europe, which relies heavily on Russian imported crude oil and gas, has become more open to the idea of banning Russian products.
Even though US relies comparatively less on Russian crude oil and products, the banning of Russian products can escalate the prices to go up, which will ultimately effect the US consumers.
“We import such a smaller percentage of oil from Russia than Europeans do…it is very different circumstance,” White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, was quoted as saying.
It is forecasted that the economy will see many ups and downs in the coming days, and it is the citizens, who are going to bear the severity of it all.
