Working with the goal of helping people go places, Uber has teamed up with Yext, a New York-based start-up that is helping businesses manage information about their location across websites and apps. Both the organisations work for a common goal, i.e. โ€” to help people go places. And since places means location, so in a nutshell, the partnership between the two companies is depended on location. And how location is playing a key role in building businesses, letโ€™s understand?

Yext is specialized in managing information about the location across websites and apps. Now, all the Yext customers will have an access to the new feature, allowing them to request a ride from emails, websites, and applications.

Suppose a customer booked a room in a hotel online and he got a confirmation email from the hotel. At the bottom of the email, there is one button that will help him to request a ride through Uber to that hotel.

Moreover, it will also customize content in order to serve the customers through Uber application while riding such as ads, promotions & offers and product sales. Similarly, there are other business models as well that are using location to do business. Another example of that is Uberโ€™s Uber Partner.

Although, it has been a while since the location and ride sharing app was launched, it allows travellers to share ride with car owners going from point A to point B. At the same time, it helps car owners make some money, making it a win-win situation for both, travellers, and the car owners.

Thereโ€™s a reason why Google is working at a rapid pace to bring location services to the forefront of many of its products like Maps, Search, Latitude, etc.

Although location-targeted ads are already out there, they will get much more refined. That’s not it, the market has a huge potential for new models, provided they are willing to explore it. And startups like Foursquare is already showing the early stages of what could be some very interesting things.

For example, localities in New York and Los Angeles using Foursquare โ€œmayorshipsโ€ (which you get when you check into a venue the most times compared to others in the city) as a way to give out special deals, like free beer. There are other ideas like that that are continuing to expand.
