A recent report by ‘Research and Markets’ reveals that The Global Satellite Data Services Market size is expected to reach $16.2 billion by 2026, rising at a market growth of 25% CAGR.

One such recent news which is making the rounds is Amazon Web Services (AWS) unveiling a new business unit devoted to developing data infrastructure and cloud services for the aerospace and satellite industry.
AWS ventured into space-centric cloud computing a year and a half ago by setting up the AWS Ground Station, a cloud service designed for satellite owners and operators. Since its inception, AWS Ground Station has been successfully building up a network of literal ground stations for satellite communications, with a portfolio of customers ranging from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to Capella Space, a provider of on-demand satellite radar imagery. Capella Space recently announced its plans to go ‘all-in’ on AWS.

AWS is providing the ‘foundational building blocks’ for Maxar Technologies’ satellite data system as well. Maxar Technologies is a leading player in the Earth Intelligence segment. The new business unit of AWS will support Maxar as it launches its new WorldView Legion satellites next year. The Legion satellites is likely to triple Maxar’s 30-cm imagery collection and greatly increase its scalability for government missions and commercial use cases.
Moving ahead, the space sector is going to benefit from some other ventures of Amazon; some developments which it has up its sleeves! Let’s wait and watch!
