Rapidly changing climate is affecting every country on Earth. It is disrupting economies and affecting lives. In 2021 alone, we saw some of the devastating effects of climate disturbances around the globe, reaching new heights of extremities. From flash floods in Germany, China, Belgium to the rise in temperatures in the United States, from landslides in India to wildfires in Siberia and forest fires in Turkey, the severe effects of climate change were felt throughout the world.
On 28th July, a wildfire broke out in Manavgat District of Antalya Province, southern Turkey, engulfing approximately 1500 hectares of land. The death toll has reached four so far, while many are severely injured.
According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the evacuation process is underway, and many houses, agricultural lands, greenhouses, barns, workplaces, and vehicles were destroyed by the wildfire. Around 960 firefighting personnel along with 30 water supply vehicles are combating the unending spread of fire.
