Abstract
With oil & gas and reservoir surveying being directed deeper and broader, a full-scale cognition of more sources of data is needed, and GIS and image processing techniques are proved to be potential ideal means to solve new problems. Therefore, it is significant to undertake the research of GIS-based geophysical integrated interpretation. This paper focuses on the key techniques of building up a GIS-based gravity & magnetic data processing system. The system is designed to realize integrated management of geophysical, geological and seismic data, and serve for geophysical integrated interpretation through developing its own processing modules in ArcInfo, a kind of GIS software. Three main problems are discussed, including efficient visualization of potential field data, automatic extraction of lineaments from gravity or magnetic images, and transformation of geophysical data into the data models recognized by ArcInfo. The GIS-based gravity & magnetic data processing system inherits not only the basic functions of ArcInfo, but also has its own functional modules, which perform lineament extraction, commonly-used data processing like continuation, directional derivative, etc, and 3-D dynamic display and mutual control. So the system serves as an effective tool for integrated interpretation.
