Abstract
An attempt has been made to prepare an action plan package for the management and planning of natural resources of the study area by the integration of different thematic maps using IRS -1C LISS III data. Different thematic maps have been prepared with the aid of visual interpretation keys,using Geocoded IRS-1C LISS III data and SOI topographical maps and relevant secondary data. By integrating various thematic maps, through ARC GIS (Geographic Information System) software, such as Geology, Geomorphology, Soil, Drainage, Hydrogeomorphological, Land use/cover map along with meteorological, socio-economic data and of the study area, action plan map has been generated.
The action plan map suggests alternate land use systems like forest development & protection, soil, water conservation and planning for better land use. The present study helps in the management of water, agriculture, forest and other natural resources for the sustainable development of Kalrayan hills, Eastern Ghats ,Tamil Nadu.
