Transmission substation site selection in the electric utility network is so important for network expansion planning. The process requires not only technical considerations but also economical, geological, environmental and other demands that may result in conflicting objectives.
Geographic information system capabilities on data management and spatial analysis implementation make it a powerful decision support tool for replying to every site analysis projects.
In this paper, after identifying the effective criteria for the application, analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method as a multi-criteria decision making methods, will be used to calculate suitable weights for each map layer. At the second step, overlay function as the GIS spatial analysis tool applies to combine spatial data layers based on various integration models such as Indexing overlay, Boolean and fuzzy logic.
Finally based on the obtained results, each model will be evaluated and best model will be recommended for the site selection application.
