Connected Construction for Enhanced Asset Monitoring

< 1 Minute Read

Infrastructure is a crucial pillar of connectivity, inclusion, and economic growth. Though the sector has been traditionally perceived to be inertial to tech adoption, now digital workflows and processes are reinventing it, making connected construction an imperative.

In the words of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways, โ€œDigital technology and infrastructure is a vital subject, not only for rural sector but for roads, power projects, and all sorts of things. Digital technologies are crucial for reducing the cost and improving the qualityโ€.

At the second day of Geospatial Artha Summit 2024 light was shed on the crucial aspect of connected construction.

โ€œConnected construction has become indispensable todayโ€, said Sekh Samim, Deputy Chief Architect/Business Development, DMRC (Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd).

โ€œModular construction saves time as well as money. For major infra projects, this is a big factorโ€, he added.

Better Monitoring

โ€œConnected construction requires a common data environment. Large construction projects have multiple stakeholders, so they all require information in a near real-time manner with minimal lags and delaysโ€, stated Abhay Kimmatkar, Managing Director, Ceinsys.

Dr. Bhargav Dave, Founder & CEO, Visilean, stated that connected construction is vital for everything from asset monitoring to project lifecycle management.

โ€œThereโ€™s a need to connect the projects vertically as well horizontally. We are also looking at open architecture projectโ€, said Sunil MK, Director, Business Development, Bentley Systems.

Shantanu Phalnikar, General Manager (Arch), Airport Authority of India, emphasized on the need of BIM and connected infra to ensure timely and reliable monitoring.
