An integrated and inclusive geospatial policy framework is critical for strengthening the national geospatial infrastructure, facilitating geospatial industry growth, and maximizing the utilization and implementation of geospatial data for socio-economic development. This session shall discuss the recent developments in geospatial and related policy in India, its implications, and its impact on the national economy.

While geospatial knowledge are uniquely positioned to play a pivotal role in India's growth story, for the real benefits of productivity, efficiency, transparency, and monitoring to reach citizens and customers, geospatial knowledge infrastructure (GKI) holds the key. Undoubtedly, geospatial knowledge-based national infrastructure will play a crucial role in delivering India's national mission programs such as National Infrastructure Pipeline, Jal Jeevan Mission, SWAMITVA, etc., among other programs, which will help India march towards achieving the US$ 5 trillion economy vision. This session will discuss the economic value of geospatial knowledge infrastructure in India’s priority sectors, the opportunities and challenges, and the way forward.

The Indian Geospatial Market in the next decade or so is going to be driven by strategic policy imperatives released by the Government of India, geospatial incubation and accelerator programs, and geospatial focus on national mission-mode projects. It is estimated that the geospatial market is going to grow the Indian geospatial economy to approximately INR 100,000 crores by 2030, respectively; which is going to add almost 2% growth to the overall GDP. Furthermore, the impact of geospatial data and technologies in the Indian economy is going to be manyfold enhancing efficiency, productivity, and effectiveness across varied sectors, and for socio-economic development. This session is going to be divided in two sessions:
Sub-session 2: 1500-1530 hrs - Indian Geospatial Market: Export Economy

With the changing geospatial industry landscape, the strategic policy initiatives, and the rapid pace with which the technology is advancing – there is an increasing opportunity among the geospatial, allied (4IR technologies) and IT industry to collaborate and integrate data and solutions for efficient use of geospatial technologies for India’s geospatial economy growth. Furthermore, these collaborative workflows lead to significant business model transformations within the Indian geospatial community and add greater value to India’s growth story. This session shall discuss how the industry ecosystem is evolving to serve the national goals of the country; what are the business models they foresee is going to drive their business in the future; and what kind of collaborative workflows are they currently/or going to focus on in the next few years.
