  • GW Consulting: Provides impactful insights to leaders in the commercial, public and social sectors to develop and facilitate more profound knowledge and understanding of geospatial technologies and their contribution to the world economy and society.
  • GW Media: Provides high-quality content, unmatched analysis and highly valuable insights to readers, through bouquet of print and digital products.

Context:

Geospatial World is expanding its operations in Europe, and to facilitate this expansion, we are establishing a regional office with a small team in the Netherlands comprising 4-5 colleagues. The initial role we are seeking to fill is that of a Business Development Manager. This colleague will report to the Vice President of Europe, who is also based in the Netherlands.

GW has organised its divisions according to the product groups (Events, Consulting and Media) and per region. The largest unit is the Events division. GW’s flagship event is the Geospatial World Forum, this year being held 13-16 May in Rotterdam. For Events in Europe we are seeking a Business Development Manager.

The European Team additionally comprises six colleagues who work remotely from the headquarters in India, Dubai, and Germany.

Responsibilities:

  • Promoting the GW Events in Europe, including the events outside Europe. The Business Development Manager plays an active role in seeking partnerships, sponsors, speakers, and other participants for events. They are responsible for building and maintaining relationships within our network, which includes leaders in the geospatial industry, policymakers, and academia.
  • The job demands a high level of flexibility, as it entails working with colleagues across various time zones and cultures. Your assigned region will be Europe, requiring frequent travel to major cities across the continent. You need to be able to interact with leaders of the geospatial industry, understand basic principles of IT and geospatial technology and geospatial policies.
  • Meetings require proper preparation, and a timely and accurate follow-up.
  • The responsibilities will be high, and shared with other team members, based on skills, qualification and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
  • Good commercial sense
  • Fluency in English, and active command of preferably 2 more European languages
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Responsive
  • No 9-5 mentality
  • Enjoy traveling
  • Affinity with technology, preferably with GIS and/or geospatial
  • A devoted love for maps is not required but certainly helps.
