At Geospatial World, our belief and unwavering commitment to the industry to “accelerate equality for all”, drives us to deliver on the promise of building innovative products across our media, events and consultancy services that deliver 360° value and ensures that we act as a responsible leader towards bringing diversity and inclusivity on our platforms and at our workplace.
The newly-formed Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Group will operate across the company’s media, events and consultancy divisions. The Group will be guided by the following objectives:
- Ensure regular content, in terms of blogs, articles, and interviews by professionals from diverse community for print and online publications.
- Provide a platform for diverse community to share their perspectives at events through speaker panels, networking events, and capacity building programs.
- Increase gender-balanced representation in media and event platforms.
- Include perspectives from diverse community in primary research for market reports.
DEI Pledge
At Geospatial World, we are dedicated to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our industry. We believe that fostering innovation and creativity in geospatial technology requires a diverse and inclusive community.
As a result, we pledge to:
- Allow racial and ethnic minority groups to participate and share their perspectives through all our platforms, for example, through speaker panels, article contributions, networking events, and capacity development programs.
- Make all attendees and speakers at our events feel welcome and included, regardless of race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, ability, or any other aspect of identity.
- Collaborate with organizations that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in geospatial technology to increase representation and support community growth.
- Educate ourselves and others about diversity, equity, and inclusion, and work to eliminate barriers and biases in our industry.
- Continuously assess and improve our DEI initiatives and practices to ensure their effectiveness and inclusiveness.
We recognize that efforts to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion are ongoing, and we are committed to making this pledge a reality at our events, media platforms, industry reports and beyond.
In order to guide and advice the DEI Group in its endeavor, Geospatial World invites select group of advocates to join the Geospatial World DEI Advisory Board. Details of the Advisory Board are provided below.
Structure
The board will constitute of up to 7 members and will elect its own Chairperson. The Advisory Board will be constituted for two years, after which Geospatial World will form a new board.
Profile
The board members would be invited based on their position and experience in the DEI segment. The invited members will be active advocates from organizations relevant to DEI and geospatial.
Role
The DEI Advisory Board will be expected to guide Geospatial World on:
- Understanding and capturing the key DEI issues and perspectives from various sectors.
- Expanding our reach and network within the diverse community for engaging in GW activities.
- Identifying and inviting professionals from diverse community who would add value to GW conference agenda, as well as those who would benefit from participating in the discussions.
- Suggesting professionals from diverse community for interviews, guest columns, articles, or blogs on GW media platforms.
Engagement Schedule
The DEI Advisory Board is expected to meet virtually twice a year: Once in hybrid meeting at the Geospatial World Forum 2023 and 2024 respectively, and once fully-virtual meeting in the last quarter of the year. At other times, the Board is expected to remain in touch with the DEI Group through email correspondence.
