In an exclusive interview with GeoBuiz, Christoph Krüger, Lead Architect of Lufthansa Systems explains how Lufthansa’s Lido helps cut fuel consumption for flights. Lufthansa Systems is a long-time user of Luciad products. Lufthansa Systems support operations and planning of big airlines with all sorts of tools. Lido/Flight 4D supports the dispatch process, a fundamental part of the airline’s flight operations. Lido provides weather and traffic information to airlines. Lido also provides navigational data to airlines. For every flight an individual flight route has to be calculated and optimized. Lufthansa Systems Lido/Flight 4D provides dispatchers with a host of optimization options regarding flight time, fuel consumption or costs of each flight. Lufthansa Systems Lido is being used by more than 65 airlines companies. Capabilities that Lido has achieved are much different from other navigational tools. Apart from weather and navigation information Lido also uses performance information, traffic information, wind and natural hazards information.
