US: A prototype has been developed which can predict flows in the major rivers of the main hydrological system of the world using satellite data and computer simulation. The prototype has been developed by researcher Rodrigo Dias de Paiva Cauduro. Rodrigo was recently honoured with the Young Scientist Award, sponsored by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Rodrigo secured third place in the category “Master and Doctor” for studying the Amazon basin and developing a system for predicting flow in rivers.
The simulations of the prototype were validated with measurements collected by institutions such as the National Water Agency (ANA), and satellite data.
