Peru to upgrade GIS system for urban planning

< 1 Minute Read

Peru: Peru is planning to get a new GIS system to manage and maintain its roads, water, sewage, electricity and other infrastructure. The system will incorporate computer mapping with records so that new projects and maintenance of existing public work can be more efficient, said Sean Mikos, public works engineer.

The city council has approved purchases of equipment and computer software for $27,592 plus a lease of $310 a month for 36 months for a printer and scanner for maps.

The system will allow Mikos to identify troubleshooting areas, create custom maps for specific projects and maintenance plans, and keep better records that can be easily accessed.
