Sao Paulo: Sao Jos Do Campos celebrated the space day on November 9. At the event, participants learnt about space sciences from astronomers, researchers and engineers from the Brazilian Aerospace center. Students attended lectures on astronomy, rockets, satellites and their applications. They also attended workshops and visited the facilities of the Department of Aerospace Science and Technology and the National Institute for Space Research (INPE), the Brazilian Aeronautics Company (Embraer), Integration and Tests Laboratory (LIT), the Astronomical Observatory of the Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE) and the Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA).
Students were taught about how to build and launch rockets from bottles and interpret satellite images. According to José Bezerra Pessoa Filho, aerospace engineer IAE, this initiative will show the Brazilian society, the efforts being made in the aerospace industry, “Many are unaware of the enormous knowledge of the country in this segment. Brazil plans to further advance the scientific technological development. “
