Brazil: The Geological Survey of Brazil (CPRM) launched a new policy for basic surveys and mapping of mineral exploration. Manoel Barreto, CEO, CPRM presented the new policy to the Brazilian mineral sector. Barretto said that the company is working towards advancing geological knowledge of the Brazilian territory.
The announcement was made during the V Brazilian Symposium on Mineral Exploration (Simexmin), being held in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais.
Barreto further added that it is necessary to develop expertise in strategic areas, such as geological surveys and mineral resources, to integrate geology, geophysics and geochemistry to develop exploration oriented maps.
Barretto noted, “The goal of the Executive Board of the company is to advance geological knowledge of the country in order to contribute to employment opportunities and income generation, and to strengthen the state systems of geology and mineral resources.”
