The Nigerian Communications Satellite Ltd (NIGCOMSAT) has forged a significant partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MOMAS Equipment and Protective Applications International Ltd (EPAIL).

This partnership is set to significantly enhance communication infrastructure in Nigeria’s defence sector and advance national security.

The event, held at the MOMAS-EPAIL factory in Mowe, Ogun state, was a testament to the importance of this collaboration. NIGCOMSAT’s Managing Director, Mrs Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, lauded MOMAS-EPAIL’s investment in developing local content in the power, defence, and other sectors, underscoring the significance of this partnership.

Mrs Egerton-Idehen also praised MOMAS-EPAIL for its innovative contributions to national security. She encouraged other indigenous companies to collaborate with NIGCOMSAT to advance the country through effective communication networks.

According to her, security is paramount to Nigeria at this moment. “Many may not know that MOMAS-EPAIL is involved in manufacturing defence materials for security, and NIGCOMSAT is Nigeria’s premier satellite communication company. Collaborating in this way adds significant value to our defence sector.”

She also stated that NIGCOMSAT, as Nigeria’s premier satellite communication company, is unwavering in its dedication to serving Nigeria by partnering with indigenous companies. Mrs Egerton-Idehen emphasised the importance of protecting national interests, creating value, and embracing innovation in the defence sector, reinforcing NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to the country.

In his remarks, Mr Kola Balogun, the chairman of MOMAS-EPAIL, said the partnership with NIGCOMSAT would build an effective database and improve data collection for national security. He said the firm had developed a robust knowledge-based information system to protect the security network and had grown remarkably in providing armoured vehicles and other operational materials.

Mr Balogun noted that building synergy with NIGCOMSAT would enhance group communication infrastructure and frontline operations. “All vital information has to be embedded in the agreement so that information critical to Nigeria’s security can be safeguarded and domesticated. This will further enhance our services and effectiveness towards service delivery in the defence sector”.
