Prestwickย Spaceport has welcomed two industry leading rocketย businesses to work withย Astraius, its launch service provider, asย the site gears up for the first launchย inย 2024.

Astraius, the UK-based, horizontal launch company, has partnered with two new โbest-of-the-bestโ industry leaders and strategic suppliers as part of its innovative launch solution, accelerating plans for the first satellite launch from Prestwickย Spaceportย from spring 2024.

Northrop Grumman has been selectedย asย the firstย and second stage motor supplier,ย and Exquadrum will provide the upper-stage motor. Northrop Grummanโs Orion solidย rocket motors will boost the Astraiusย launch vehicleย after its extraction from the unmodified C-17 carrier aircraft. Completing the mission, Exquadrumโs bespokeย Astraius upper stage will precisely place satellitesย in their intendedย orbits.

Prestwickย Spaceportย will playย an important roleย in the creation of up to 4,000 local aerospaceย and space jobs for Scotlandย and will help nurtureย and develop the skills needed to keep the UKย at the forefront of what isย aย globally growingย industry for years to come.

Glasgowย Prestwickย Airport isย a highly significant infrastructureย asset which helps to support more than 4,000 jobs in the west of Scotland. Prestwickย Aerospace is the heart of Scotlandโsย aerospaceย industry, with over 50% of the countryโsย aerospace workforce employedย at the site.ย Prestwickย Aerospace isย already the largestย aerospace cluster inย Scotland providing extensive employment for the local community.
