July 18, 2002-MapInfo Corporation has announced that Robert P. Schechter has been appointed to its Board of Directors. Mr. Schechter, chairman and chief executive officer of NMS Communications provider of voice, video and data systems for wireless and wireline networks, brings extensive experience in the technology industry to MapInfo.
Prior to joining NMS Communications, Mr. Schechter spent eight years at Lotus Development Corporation, first as Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations and Chief Financial Officer, and most recently as Senior Vice President of the International Business Group. In this capacity, he was responsible for all sales, marketing, customer service and product development activities outside of North America, as well as Lotus global consulting services. He was also a partner at Coopers & Lybrand, where he served as Chairman of the northeast region high technology practice.
