Geo InSight International, has announced that it has been awarded a contract to develop and implement a spatial analysis training course for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Ocean Service’s (NOS) Pacific Services Center (PSC). This training will include course development and instruction for coastal managers in the State of Hawaii and the U.S. Flag Pacific Islands of American Samoa, Guam, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).
Working closely with PSC representatives, the “Intermediate Spatial Analysis and Modeling” course is being designed as a geotechnology seminar that will cover the fundamentals of geospatial analysis and spatial modeling. This course will utilize an applied instructional approach, in which GIS theory, skills, and procedures are presented as problem solving tools in the context of real-world applications. Geo InSight will use ESRI’s ArcGIS 8 and Spatial Analyst software for exercises and a group practicum. NOAA/NOS is undertaking this course to enhance the capabilities of the coastal managers in the islands to perform spatial analysis for land, coast, and ocean resource analysis.

Geo InSight’s instructional staff is highly experienced in geospatial technologies training, curriculum development, technical documentation, and project work involving coastal environmental applications, GIS technologies, and spatial analysis methodologies. They have carried out similar training programs for the United States Pacific Air Forces (PACAF); the Office of State Planning in Hawaii; the Marine Corps Air Station in Iwakuni, Japan; and the State of Hawaii Department of Education.
