Indo-Swiss team work on disaster recovery

< 1 Minute Read

The city-based Disaster Mitigation Institute (DMI) is working with a Swiss university to find ways to promote IT applications in disaster recovery processes like monitoring earthquake hit areas. The collaboration between DMI and Switzerland’s University of Basel aims to use the new technology to monitor rehabilitation in 14 earthquake-affected slums in the town of Bhuj in Gujarat’s border district of Kutch.

The programme will monitor economic recovery of small business in slum localities, improvement in shelter structures, enrolment of children in schools and availability of basic facilities including water and sanitation.
