< 1 Minute Read

Toronto, Canada, 11 April 2007: Grey Island Systems International Inc., announced that the Board of County Commissioners of Franklin County (Ohio) approved and awarded a contract resulting from an RFP for a GPS/AVL System for Franklin County Engineer’s Office. The contract valued USD 4,093,826. Grey Island Systems and NextBus develops, markets and hosts real-time internet based automated vehicle location systems, real-time passenger information systems and vehicular telematic systems for public and private fleets.

The GPS/AVL system will be used by the Central Ohio Management Based Applied Technology (COMBAT) collaborative. COMBAT is composed of the City of Columbus and Franklin County Engineers Office with Franklin County acting as the lead agency for the project.

The project contains a GIS map update in compliance with the Central Ohio Regional ITS Architecture. Using these map updates with InterFleet’s patented browser-based software, COMBAT members will have access to live information on snow and ice operations, mowing operations and street sweeping operations among others.

“This project is a great example of the increasing sophistication of local government end-users of GPS/AVL to apply the technology to their specific requirements” said Grey Island President, Owen Moore. For more information please visit websites www.interfleet.com and www.nextbus.com.
