CenterPoint Energy develops RouteMap IMS application

< 1 Minute Read

CenterPoint Energy developed RouteMAP IMS application that allows employees to obtain driving directions. Built for the organizationโ€™s Intranet, the application can be used by any CenterPoint Energy employee throughout the seven states it serves. CenterPoint deployed RouteMAP IMS in 2002 after testing a stand-alone version. The application includes additional spatial data such as the locations of power plants, service centers, district offices, and substations as well as service area and district out-boundaries, ZIP Codes, and much more.
Though the application is used throughout the CenterPoint organization, primary departments that use it include Survey and Mapping, Land and Right-of-Way, Marketing, Streetlight Operations, Electric and Gas Engineering, and Electric and Gas Dispatching. RouteMAP IMS is a stand-alone, Internet-based site locator application that generates driving directions instantly. The affordable, out-of-the-box Internet mapping solution is designed for organizations that wish to add find-and-route mapping capabilities to their Web site. It requires no programming to create custom maps with symbols that represent a business or public sector service center. However, equipped with both ActiveX and Java Application Program Interfaces, it can be tailored to suit any application. With RouteMAP IMS, you can quickly and easily plot your single or multiple locations on a map and serve the map on your Web page to help get your customers from your Web site to your store site.
