MapInfo Corporation has announced that it will be participating in the second annual Summit in Tech Valley, a forum for leading CEOs to discuss the technology growth of the region and formulate a continued strategy for future expansion. Mark Cattini, MapInfo president and CEO, will be participating in a panel discussion comprised of prominent figures from Tech Valley’s technology community. NBC News Anchor Tom Brokaw will host the discussion. Mr. Brokaw has moderated similar panels at the Summit in Silicon Valley and Summit in Silicon Alley.
The Summit highlights a month-long series of technology-related events and activities. MapInfo is a participating sponsor in this year’s Business Plan Competition, which is being held in conjunction with the panel discussion.
Designed to bring further recognition to the Capital Region’s rapidly expanding high-tech community, the Business Plan Competition creates an opportunity for entrepreneurial companies within the Tech Valley to share their ideas for business and technology success. At the end of the Summit, the winner will be awarded $100,000 to help propel the company to new heights and foster the growth of technology businesses throughout New York’s Tech Valley. MapInfo’s Founder and Chairman Emeritus, Mike Marvin, will also be honored with the inaugural “MIKE” (Mentoring, Inspiration, Knowledge, Entrepreneurship) Award, created to recognize and honor individuals who have played a significant role in fostering the technology community’s growth, mentoring entrepreneurs and inspiring other technology ventures through their personal success. Additional events include a Technology Lecture Series and a Geek Nation Event Series.
